Florida NFL teams square off in pre-season matchups

During the 2008 NFL pre-season, the three Florida teams will face one another during the coming weeks.

On Saturday, August 15, the Miami Dolphins defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars 19-14 at Jacksonville Memorial Stadium as Chad Pennington led the Dolphins on an eight-play, 57-yard scoring drive for the game's opening score.  The drive was capped off by a 4-yard touchdown run from Ricky Williams.

Chad Henne looked just as impressive in guiding Miami's offense to four scores over the final three quarters. He finished 17-of-26 for 133 yards with no interceptions and he and Pennington were never sacked.  The Tampa Bay Buccaneers defeated the Miami Dolphins, 17-6 on Saturday, August 8.

The Jaguars meet the Bucs on Saturday, August 23 in Tampa, to complete the round-robin, pre-season schedule between the Florida NFL teams.

Fans of Florida's NFL teams can show their support of their favorite squad by purchasing a Pro Sports License Plate.  Not only will fans be showing their support on the bumper of their car, but with the purchase of a pro sports license plate, they will be supporting a youth charity of their favorite team and sports in Florida.

During the 2007-08 fiscal year, the Florida Sports Foundation donated over $178,000 to designated youth charities of the Jacksonville Jaguars, Miami Dolphins and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.  Over $270,000 was donated to youth charities of all nine Florida professional sports teams with license plates.

Also through the sale of pro sports license plate, the Florida Sports Foundation awarded $359,500 in grants to 61 sporting events through the Regional Grant Program.  The 61 granted events brought over 165,000 visitors and $80 million in economic impact to the State of Florida.  The Foundation also gives grants to major sporting events in Florida such as Super Bowl games, Bowl Championship Series Games and the NCAA Final Four.
